With more than 3,000 hours of sunshine each year, the Algarve is made for days spent outdoors.

Lagos
Just a short drive from Quinta Bonita, Lagos is one of the western Algarve's most captivating towns, where centuries of history meet a wonderfully relaxed coastal way of life.
Step inside the old city walls and lose yourself among narrow cobbled streets, whitewashed buildings and pretty squares lined with pavement cafés and restaurants. Browse independent boutiques, artisan shops and traditional Portuguese ceramics, stop for coffee in the sunshine, or settle into a table and watch the world go by. The town comes alive in the evenings, when its streets and squares fill with the gentle buzz of alfresco dining.
Lagos is also a wonderful place to experience the flavours of the Algarve. Visit the local market for fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and regional produce, discover tucked-away restaurants serving freshly caught seafood, or enjoy a leisurely lunch overlooking the marina.
Beyond the old town lies some of the Algarve's most spectacular coastline. Walk the clifftop paths around Ponta da Piedade, where golden limestone cliffs rise above turquoise waters, discover secluded coves and beaches, or take to the water by kayak or boat to explore the caves and rock formations from the sea.
For longer, lazy beach days, the vast sweep of Meia Praia stretches along the bay towards Alvor, with plenty of places to stop for a relaxed lunch or a cold drink with your feet in the sand.
Rich in history yet effortlessly laid-back, Lagos is a place to wander without an agenda — dipping between beaches, cafés, markets and hidden streets before finding the perfect spot to watch another Algarve sunset.
Beaches
One of our favourite ways to experience the coastline is on foot, following the spectacular clifftop trail from Praia da Luz to Burgau. With sweeping views across the Atlantic along the way, the walk ends in the charming whitewashed fishing village of Burgau, where a well-earned lunch by the beach awaits.
Closer to home, Praia da Luz is just five minutes from Quinta Bonita. Its beautiful sweep of golden sand sits within a sheltered bay, making it a wonderful spot for swimming, paddleboarding or simply spending a leisurely day beside the sea.
Quinta Bonita is perfectly placed for discovering some of the western Algarve's most beautiful beaches, from secluded coves framed by dramatic golden cliffs to vast stretches of sand and wild Atlantic surf. Whether you're looking for an early morning swim, a day on the waves, a hidden beach to explore or somewhere to settle beneath the Algarve sun, we'll happily share our favourite spots.
